Troubleshooting Common Scoring Mistakes

"That score is wrong"

Tap directly into the hole in question and check the entered score for each player — this is the single most common source of a downstream dispute, since a wrong gross score anywhere upstream will make every game's settlement look wrong even though the math itself is fine. Fixing the hole score recalculates everything that depends on it automatically; you don't need to manually re-settle any game after correcting an entry.

"The stroke count looks off on this hole"

Before assuming the math is wrong, check two things: whether the player's handicap is actually current (a stale GHIN sync or an old manual override will produce a different — but internally consistent — stroke count), and whether this particular game uses a percentage of handicap rather than the full number (team formats commonly do, individual net games don't). What looks like a bug is usually one of these two settings, both visible on the game's own setup screen.

"A hole got skipped or never scored"

Moving on from a hole nobody actually entered a score for doesn't leave it blank forever — tapping past it (via Next Hole or Review Round) seeds it as a scored hole for everyone so later games and totals aren't left with a gap. If you catch this before moving on, just tap into the hole and enter the real scores; if you already moved past it, you can still go back and correct it — the same edit path from the first section applies to any hole, not just the current one.

"The settle-up total doesn't match what we expected"

Check the per-game breakdown before assuming the consolidated total is wrong — it almost never is, since it's just adding up numbers each game already computed. Open the specific game that looks off and look at its own card: skins shows which hole each skin was won on, nassau shows front/back/total separately, and so on. Nine times out of ten, the "wrong" total traces back to one hole's score or one setting (a missed press, a handicap percentage nobody double-checked) rather than the settlement logic itself, which runs the same deterministic calculation every time.

If you're genuinely stuck

Every number on the results screen is derived from the actual hole-by-hole scores entered during the round, plus each game's own settings — nothing is hidden or computed off-screen. If a total still doesn't make sense after checking the breakdown and the underlying hole scores, it's almost always one of those two places, not a mystery in the settlement math itself.
